Tanya is the Chief youth and families advisor at the International Sustainable Resilience Center, a Not For Profit organization in the United States. Here she teaches children and families how to prepare, survive and cope when it comes to disasters. Tanya is also a panelist and moderator for international conferences, including for United Nations conferences.

An experienced television producer, Tanya knows how effective storytelling is, particularly when it comes to learning. Tanya’s awareness that a lot of information is too scientific or scary to connect with a younger audience prompted her to write engaging, entertaining books for children. Telling stories is, for Tanya, a way of connecting with people. When she was a child, she wrote a story about a fantasy world called Donut Island; the seed for The Tufts. This Disaster Survival Series came out of that childhood creativity.

Known for her smile and her boundless energy, Tanya loves to challenge herself. She believes that the power of persistence helps people to develop resilience and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. When she isn’t writing, Tanya enjoys rock climbing, skiing, ocean swimming and spending time with her family and friends. She feels most centered when she spends time in nature. Respect for the natural environment and acknowledging the ripple effects of human actions are non-negotiables for her.
